Beer

Broken Rail Brewing

Situated in the iconic St. Marys Junction Railway Station, a small station built for the Grand Trunk Railway back in 1858.

Broken Rail Brewing was established with the goal to keep this historic station and story alive - and why not make some damn good beer while we are at it!

The skilled craftsmanship is evident throughout the station which is exactly the foundation of our brews and we can't wait to share them with you.

Broadhead Brewing

Our story starts with four friends, a collective passion for better beer, and a garage. Brewing off a 20L rig consisting of a pot, a propane stand and a few glass fermenters, the 4 broad-headed (aka big noggined) fellas honed their skills. Feedback was so positive that thirst quickly outgrew supply and the idea of opening a commercial brewery was born.

With a fraction of the capital advised to take on a project of this magnitude, the founders banked on their engineering prowess to retrofit and repurpose equipment in combination with a whole lot of sweat equity and late nights. In the fall of 2011, Broadhead Brewery kicked its doors open to the public in Ottawa, Ontario.

Over the past decade, we’ve been fortunate enough to be able to live our dream and share that dream with our incredible team and amazing customers. While much has changed since the garage days, our strong work ethic holds true, we remain focused on crafting high quality beer that’s innovative yet approachable, while leveraging the backgrounds of our founders to conduct regular feats of engineering.

11 years later. 153 recipes crafted. No stop in sight.

Torched Brewing

What do six friendships, three couples, and one combined passion for craft beer equal? It equals the shared partnerships that make up the Torched Brewing Company dream team.

As we embarked on this business venture together, it hasn’t taken us long to appreciate it takes 100% of our teams’ effort and determination to make our brewery in Grand Bend a success.

Our journey started with the renovation of our building – this old building had been transformed into several different businesses over the decades. As we transformed it (once again), we thought the best plan of attack was to continue working with it, and not against it, bringing Torched Brewing Company to life.

We honestly started to question whether our brewery was ever going to get off the ground. Contending with the uniqueness of our structure, a worldwide pandemic and a new name launch, the excitement never ends. As the saying goes, if we didn’t have bad luck, we wouldn’t have any luck at all. It is our teams’ perseverance, hard work, sense of humour, and our “one-day-at-a-time” attitude that pulls us through. One thing we have going for us is that we all have the same vision for a welcoming, modern rustic atmosphere. That is what we set out to create for you when we officially opened the doors of Torched Brewing Company in July 2021.

We are proud to recognize that it takes the combined diversity of knowledge, experiences and expertise from all our partners, contributing to every aspect of the Torched Brewing Company business. From the beginning of our craft brewery dream, from concept to planning… to the design and construction of our building… to mastering our desired beer flavour profiles for optimum customer satisfaction… and so much more. Our diverse backgrounds and personalities bring so many strengths to the table.

Our team is eager to serve you with the finest craft beer products. We promise to infuse our creativity and passion into everything we do, so we can bring everyone together to share and enjoy the experience.

Top Dog Brewing

Our founder and head brewer Kieran Buzek likes to say that he in fact earned a double major in his four years spent at the University of Windsor- one in Business, and one in Beer Appreciation. While the Business degree may be the only one framed and acknowledged by the University, his lessons in beer began around that same time just down the street. While most University students begin their legal drinking journey with whatever is cheapest, Kieran stumbled (quite literally) upon a local bar that served “Craft Beer”.

The Barrel House Pub is where Kieran would soon find himself sampling craft beers from around the world, and picking the brain of the expert bartender. From pale ales, to IPAs, wheat beers, and many stouts later, he began to taste and appreciate the difference in these handcrafted brews compared to the average generic brands. One night after his final exams and an intensive lesson from that very same bartender, Kieran realized a way to combine his education in both business and beer. That same night, he found himself endlessly scouring the internet for home brewing books- a requirement of his own this time around.

Fast forward one year later, and Kieran had suddenly occupied his parents’ garage with home brewing equipment. One afternoon while experimenting, he received a call from the University’s graduate department surveying 2016 graduates on the success rate of landing a job in their studied field. It wasn’t until that moment that he looked around and realized how much he had evidently invested in equipment. Calmly he answered, “I’m opening a brewery”.

Waterloo Brewing

WATERLOO BREWING CAME INTO BEING LONG BEFORE THE CRAFT BEER HYSTERIA THAT GRIPS OUR CULTURE TODAY.

We are, quite simply, the result of a thirst for terrific tasting beer, which we had in common with our friends and neighbours. Back then, we took to brewing small batches, by hand, from four simple ingredients. Today, we humbly lay claim to the honour of being not only Ontario’s first craft brewer but also its largest. Though our recipe – fresh, handmade, simple ingredients – hasn’t budged.

As the thirst for exceptional craft beers has spread, we’ve kept our heads down and stayed true to what we believe are deeply shared K-W values of quality, craftsmanship and a spirit of innovation.

That’s meant having to sort through how we can continue to pioneer craft beer culture, while also finding ways to brew responsibly to the environment and a community that we’re as fond of as we are fond of beer.

Today, we still create balanced, thoughtful beers that riff on traditional styles. We just happen to have grown bigger, and we hope a little wiser, in how we brew.
